POSITION OVERVIEW
Department: Quality
Reports To: Operations Manager
FLSA Status: Exempt
Direct Reports: 5 Quality Department team members
POSITION SUMMARY
Lead and ensure excellence in quality assurance and quality control across all manufacturing operations. This position is responsible for maintaining ISO 9001 and AS9100 compliance while developing and mentoring the quality team to meet the highest industry standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Quality Management & Compliance
• Oversee quality assurance and control processes to ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and AS9100 standards
• Perform contract review activities to ensure alignment with customer specifications, engineering prints, and company workmanship standards
• Manage and maintain the company's calibration program and processes
• Develop, write, edit, and formalize quality procedures and programs
Technical Quality Assurance
• Read and interpret engineered blueprints with strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
• Prepare, complete, and present First Article Inspection (FAI) documents to customers in SAE AS9100 format
• Conduct structural part dimensional inspection using advanced techniques and CMM programming
• Work with and interrogate computer-generated models for quality verification
• Initiate and manage processes for collecting, collating, analyzing, and presenting manufacturing data
Team Leadership & Development
• Train and mentor quality personnel on measurement, inspection, and quality-related concepts
• Lead and develop a team of 5 quality department members
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement and quality excellence
Customer & Stakeholder Relations
• Present quality reports and findings to customer quality representatives
• Collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders on quality initiatives
• Maintain regular and consistent attendance as an essential function of this role
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required
• 5-10 years of manufacturing experience required
• 3-5 years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment required
• 1+ year of Quality Lead experience preferred
Required Skills & Competencies
• Extensive experience working within an AS9100-approved quality system
• Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 and AS9100 quality system requirements
• Proficiency with dimensional measurement tools (vernier calipers, micrometers, etc.)
• CMM programming and inspection experience (highly desirable)
• In-depth knowledge of machines and materials used in die-cutting manufacturing
• Strong analytical and organizational abilities
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Solid project management capabilities
• Ability to interpret and apply concepts of algebra and geometry
Technical Proficiencies
• Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel)
• JobBoss or similar ERP/manufacturing software
• Inventory management systems
• Quality management software and databases
Certifications
• Understanding and upholding of ISO 9001/AS9100 standards
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position requires the ability to work in a manufacturing environment with the following physical demands:
• Stand and walk frequently throughout the day (approximately 30% of time)
• Use hands, reach with hands and arms occasionally
• Regularly communicate verbally (talk/hear)
• Lift and move items frequently
• Stoop, kneel, or crouch occasionally
• Work near moving mechanical parts occasionally
• Moderate noise level environment (typical business office with machinery)
